The Best Diet For Fat Loss

There are thousands of diets that promise fast results and miracle physical transformations. Diets such as Keto, Paleo, Counting Calories, Tracking Macros, Intermittent Fasting, and the Carnivore diet have all been promoted as the key to rapid fat loss and six pack abs. Proponents of each diet rigorously defend their nutrition dogma, claiming their way is the best way. So how do you know which one works the best and is right for you?

 

 

The truth is people over complicate nutrition. Every single one of the aforementioned diets work. They work because they A) either eliminate an entire food group, which causes you to consume less calories or B) force you to actually track what you are putting in your body to remain in a caloric deficit. The common theme amongst all diets, and the only way to lose weight is to consume less calories than you expend. You can do strict Paleo or Keto all day, if you eat more than you expend you will gain weight no matter what the food is you are eating. The problem is people attempt to adhere to these strict diets and they might mess up a meal or two and the whole train derails. They may go keto Monday through Friday but the 4,000-calorie binge on Saturday puts them into a caloric surplus. In their eyes “keto didn’t work” so it’s on to trying the next diet. The same thing happens when they try paleo, or the Mediterranean diet and the person assumes “well I just can’t lose weight.”

 

Once we can see this pattern we can reverse it. We can recognize that we do not need to adhere to some diet that limits every food that we enjoy. But we do need to carefully examine our goals and decide what we are trying to do. If we really want to lose that 20lbs we can do it, but it is going to be hard. We are going to have to adjust our eating schedule. We will most likely need to cut out some foods we enjoy. We will probably need to limit our portions when we might still feel hungry. That is fine it is the hard work that coincides with reaching our goal. It is not the diets fault or your metabolisms fault. It is a lack of clear direction in accomplishing the goal.
